Lodged deep in my brain is an idea that the more home-crafted a thing is, the better. The logic chain looks something like this: Store-bought brownie<Brownie from a box<Brownie from scratch, so why not Brownie from scratch with hand-milled flour?

This is an exploration of how well that idea wedged in my brain is working out for me in practice? Is it cheaper? Is it more efficient? Healthier? Prettier? Where is the typing point between DIY that improves and DIY that has gone to crazy town?

I manage budgets by day and cook and craft by night, so I’ll leave it to you to figure out why this particular problem is interesting to me.
